Woody Harrelson in trailer for corrupt cop pic, Rampart

With a script from L.A crime writer extraordinaire, James Ellroy, and an Oscar-bait performance from Woody Harrelson comes the brand new trailer for Rampart

L.A.P.D police brutality story Rampart marks a reunion between director Oren Moverman and Woody Harrelson, both of who garnered praise for their work in 2009’s The Messenger. More exciting than that though, is that the film boasts a script from James Ellroy of L.A Confidential and The Black Dahlia fame.

Set in the early 1990s, Rampart is the story of Dave Brown, an L.A cop caught dishing out some brutality on camera and subsequently hauled over the coals in a department-wide shake-up. The trailer makes some claim in calling Harrelson’s character “the most corrupt cop you’ve ever seen on screen”. Now if that doesn’t spark a top ten list of two we don’t know what will.

Sigourney Weaver, Cynthia Nixon, Ice Cube, Anne Heche, Robin Wright and Steve Buscemi star alongside Harrelson and Rampart is due to hit UK cinemas in February 2012. Watch the brand new trailer below.
